Trim Levels
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is the four-door version of the Wrangler. This generation of the Wrangler is called the JL, which replaces the outgoing JK model. The Unlimited version is available in four trim levels. These are Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon. All models come with a hardtop or a soft-top convertible. Exterior equipment on the base Sport model includes a full-size spare tire, 17-inch steel wheels, tow hooks, a fold-down windshield, fog lights, removable doors, and skid plates. The Sport S adds automatic headlights, heated and power-operated side mirrors, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Choose the Sahara trim level to get painted exterior trim and door panels, LED fog lights, automatic LED headlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels. With the top Rubicon, features include 17-inch alloy wheels with off-roading tires, electronic front and rear locking differentials, rock rails, heavy-duty front and rear axles, shorter axle gearing, and an electronically disconnecting front roll bar.
Engine
Beneath the hood of the 2018 Wrangler Unlimited, you'll find a standard 3.6-liter V-6 engine that rates at 260 pound-feet of torque and 285 horsepower. It pairs with a six-speed manual transmission, although an eight-speed automatic is available as an upgrade on the base trim level. Later in the model year, Jeep has announced plans to release an available 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired with a hybrid eTorque system.
Performance
The standard configuration for the 2018 Wrangler Unlimited is a Command-Trac part-time four-wheel drive system. However, you can upgrade to a Selec-Trac full-time four-wheel drive system, which is helpful for those who plan to spend a lot of time off-roading. With the automatic transmission, the EPA fuel economy estimates come in at 16 mpg in the city, 20 mpg on the highway, and 18 mpg combined. If you opt for the manual transmission, the highway estimate increases by one mpg.
Interior
The cabin of the base trim comes equipped with air conditioning, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, a height-adjustable driver's seat with two-way lumbar support, cloth upholstery, an adjustable steering wheel, an eight-speaker audio system with a 5-inch touch screen, the Uconnect infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port. With the Sport S, you'll get a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an alarm system, and dual sun visors with vanity mirrors. Step up to the Sahara for a 115-volt power outlet, automatic climate control, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, a larger driver information display, a 7-inch touch screen, a more advanced version of Uconnect, and an extra USB port. At the top of the options, the Rubicon boasts one more USB port. You can get optional upgrades like an 8.4-inch touch screen, a premium Alpine audio system, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Safety Features
All models of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler have a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, and stability and traction control. You can also add blind spot monitoring as an option.
