Asbury Park, New Jersey, is the waterfront city that offers exceptional dining, historical sights, and plenty of recreational activity. You can check out the historic beauty of Asbury Park by visiting these entertaining sites.

The Convention Hall

The Convention Hall and Paramount Theatre have hosted Asbury Park’s most prominent visitors, including Elton John and Bruce Springsteen, and still hosts concerts and musical performances today. The hall overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, making it a popular location for sightseeing.

Visit the historic Grand Arcade, which connects the Convention Hall to the Paramount Theatre with 40-foot high ceilings and an abundance of attractions. Whether you are looking for entertainment, food, or interesting historical architecture, you are sure to find it here.

Asbury Park Boardwalk

The Asbury Park Boardwalk is one of the most popular attractions in the city with its delectable cuisine, unique shops, and live music scene. The boardwalk has been around since 1871 when it was a popular orchestra performance destination. As the boardwalk attracted more and more tourists over the years, it was extended in size.

You can check out the eclectic collection of shops, including the Fun House and Lightly Salted. For a bite to eat, make sure you try the Stella Marina or Pop’s Garage. Tim McLoone’s Supper Club also offers a fine dining menu that reminds you of the New York supper clubs from the 1940s.

The Asbury Casino

Although the Asbury Casino is no longer up and running, it offers visitors a glimpse into Asbury Park of the early 1900s. The casino was once one of the hottest buildings along the boardwalk and featured video poker and a skating rink. Today, visitors believe that it is haunted and enjoy walking through the Beaux-arts structure.

You can still see some of the original architecture of the Asbury Casino, which was planned by the same architects that designed the Grand Central Station.

Silverball Pinball Museum

Pinball machines are hard to come by in today’s electronic world. But, if you want to take a step into the past and enjoy the iconic pinball game of your childhood, you need to check out the Silverball Pinball Museum. They have over 600 pinball games in rotation for your enjoyment.  You can also refuel at the Silverball Cafe, which will remind you of old-fashioned Jersey Shore carnivals with pizza, nachos, and funnel cakes.

Festhalle & Biergarten Rooftop Bar

You can experience authentic German food and beer at the Festhalle & Biergarten Rooftop Bar in Asbury Park. This biergarten promises an experience unlike anything else with communal dining tables, regular live music, and over 9,000 square feet of rooftop views that overlook the Asbury Boardwalk.

The menu consists of over 60 beer choices, both imported and local. It also includes traditional German foods, including grilled sausages. You can still visit the Festhall Rooftop Bar during colder New Jersey temperatures by renting a rooftop igloo. Heated with a space heater, you and your friends can enjoy the beautiful winter views of Asbury Park.
