Diners in NJThere is nothing like the food you can get a great dive restaurant. The no-frills atmosphere you get along with large portions and home cooking makes a perfect combination. In and around the Ocean Township area of New Jersey, there are several diners and dive restaurants to choose from. Here are some of the best that will fill you up with tasty food.

1. George’s Place

George’s Place in Cape May first opened in 1968. This seaside staple serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and with every dish offers a little touch of Greece. Start your day at George’s with an omelet, pancakes, or a breakfast sandwich, or stop by for lunch when you can get a chicken gyro, soup, or a Mediterranean salad. The chicken souvlaki is a delicious choice for dinner, or try the leg of lamb that the chef roasts for up to four hours and then slices it, before searing it on a flat-top grill. It’s then served with red pepper and eggplant orzo and a side of tzatziki sauce.

2. Piccini

If you are in the mood for wood-fired brick oven pizza, head to Piccini in Ocean City. The bacon cheeseburger pizza here is a must. It comes with a ketchup & mustard base, topped with Colby Jack cheese, ground beef, bacon, and then garnished with pickle chips. The extensive menu also has specialty sandwiches, including the sauteed veggie with oven-roasted eggplant, fresh spinach, mushrooms, and marinated red pepper, and the sauteed chicken and spinach. You can also get calzones, seafood dishes, pasta, and Panini.

Choose from the long list of gourmet pizza options, or if you want something light, there are several salads on the menu.

3. Blue Swan Diner

The Blue Swan Diner in Oakhurst is a great hole-in-the-wall diner that serves all your home-cooked favorites. The coffee is always good and hot, and the food is always fresh. The list of specialty burgers includes a pizza burger, southwest turkey burger, and the lone star burger. You can also get linguine with marinara sauce, meat lasagna, and penne vodka if you need something filling. The Blue Swan Diner stays open until 1 a.m. seven nights a week, so it is a great place for a late-night meal.

4. Sides Grill Diner & Cafe

Sides Grill Diner & Cafe in Long Branch is one of the newer diners on the Jersey Shore. The menu has diner favorites along with some healthier options, too, making this a good stop if you want a dive atmosphere but still like to watch what you eat. The owners roast all their own meats and grow their own vegetables. You can sit in a bright and comfortable room while you eat, and the staff is friendly. Stop by in the morning for eggs and bacon or some avocado toast, or if you go in for lunch, make sure to try the fresh, homemade chips.
