2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Driving Performance Review

When you close your eyes and imagine the perfect archetypal SUV, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is likely what comes to mind. It pairs impressive off-road capability with on-road refinement, making it a favorite of both families and thrill-seekers alike. As a staple in the American automotive landscape for over 25 years, the 2022 model of the Grand Cherokee looks to continue that tradition. The new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is the latest iteration of this iconic SUV, and it doesn't disappoint. Building on the legacy of its predecessors, the Overland takes things to the next level with a host of new features and upgrades. Chief among these is driving performance. The Grand Cherokee is a capable performer, but the Overland takes it to a new level. In this review, we'll take a closer look at what this new SUV offers and see whether it lives up to the hype. more Engine, Transmission, and Performance Under the hood, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is powered by a potent 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 with variable valve timing (VVT). This mill churns out an impressive 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the power is sent to the rear wheels. An all-wheel-drive system is optional. If you want even more power, there's also an available 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine with 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. This is also mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive comes standard when you opt for the V-8, and it includes Jeep's Quadra-Trac II system for even more off-road capability. On the road, the new Grand Cherokee Overland is a confident and composed performer. The V-6 engine provides plenty of power for everyday driving, and the transmission shifts smoothly and efficiently. The all-wheel-drive system provides added traction and stability in inclement weather, making the Grand Cherokee a great choice if you live in a snowy climate. The V-8 engine is even more powerful and provides an impressive amount of acceleration when you need it. But it's the Overland's handling and poise that really stand out. Despite its size and weight, the Grand Cherokee feels light on its feet and is easy to maneuver. It also delivers a comfortable ride, even on rough roads. Ride Quality and Handling Riding in the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is a smooth and comfortable experience. The SUV's height-adjustable suspension system is well-tuned, providing a plush ride, even over rough roads. However, the Grand Cherokee doesn't feel excessively floaty or disconnected from the road. Body roll is well-controlled, and the SUV always feels reasonably planted around corners. Steering is light but precise, making it easy to place the Overland exactly where you want it. Overall, the handling is reassuring and confidence-inspiring, making the Overland a great choice for both everyday driving and off-road adventures. Interior and Cargo Capacity The cabin of the Grand Cherokee is a pleasant place to be, and the new Overland model is no different. It features high-quality materials, a mix of soft-touch plastics, a matte-finished wood trim, and leather upholstery. The front seats are spacious and comfortable, and the rear seats offer you plenty of head- and legroom. The heated and cooled front seats are a nice touch, and the heated steering wheel keeps your hands toasty on cold mornings. As for cargo space, the Grand Cherokee Overland has plenty to offer. There's 37.7 cu ft of space behind the rear seats, which expands to a whopping 70.8 cu ft when you fold them down. That's more than enough room for all your gear, whether you're packing for a weekend getaway or a cross-country road trip. Exterior Design The new Grand Cherokee Overland features a handsome and stylish exterior design. The SUV's proportions are well-balanced, and the overall look is both modern and rugged. Up front, the signature seven-slot Jeep grille is flanked by narrow LED headlights, and the set of LED fog lights help you see in inclement weather. It rides on 21-inch aluminum wheels and comes standard with body-colored door handles. At the rear, you'll find LED taillights and a hands-free, foot-activated adjustable power tailgate. Put it all together, and the new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is a real head-turner. Infotainment and Connectivity There are creature comforts abound in the new Grand Cherokee Overland. As standard equipment, it comes with a massive 10.1-inch touch-screen display and the latest version of Jeep's Uconnect infotainment system. This system is one of the most intuitive and user-friendly on the market, and it responds quickly to inputs. It's also packed with features, including built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and a nine-speaker Alpine audio system. If you're looking for even more high-tech features, plenty of optional upgrades are available. These include a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, second-row sunshades, and a wireless charging pad for your smartphone. With these added tech goodies, driving around town and on the open road will be even more enjoyable. Safety and Driver-Assistance Features The new Jeep Grand Cherokee comes standard with Jeep's Advanced Protech Group III package of driver-assistance features. This includes adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, an intersection collision-assist system, heads-up display, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist. One of the most impressive features is the Night Vision system with Pedestrian and Animal Detection. This uses a thermal camera to detect people or animals in low-light conditions and can even provide a warning if one crosses in front of your vehicle. The Grand Cherokee comes standard with a full complement of airbags, and anti-whiplash head restraints help minimize whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. During testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Grand Cherokee Overland earned a four-star rating for overall safety. So, you can rest assured that you and your passengers will be well-protected on the road. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is a great choice if you’re looking for an SUV with style, comfort, and capability. It's packed with features both inside and out and comes standard with a long list of driver-assistance and safety technologies. So, if you're in the market for a new SUV, check out the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. You won't be disappointed. Sea View Auto Corp is your trusted New Jersey Jeep dealer. The Most Reliable Jeeps

There are many reasons to want a used Jeep, such as saving money or getting a car with features that are no longer available. One issue with buying a used Jeep, or any used car for that matter, is the need for maintenance at some point. It's a fact of automotive life that older cars have more wear and tear, but some wear better than others. At Sea View Auto Corp, we know Jeep, and we've put together a list of the most reliable Jeep vehicles to help you find the Jeep you've always wanted. more 2017 Jeep Wrangler There are some Jeep model years where everything works right and doesn't require excess maintenance. The 2017 Jeep Wrangler is one of them, with an engine lasting more than 300,000 miles outside of normal wear and tear. Sure, you'll need to replace parts as they wear down, but the block itself is solid and reliable. Some known issues with the 2017 model year include transmission failures, oil leaks from the filter assembly, and computer problems. However, all of these issues happen under 100,000 miles, and the model has been around long enough that there are fixes for them. The oil filter assembly is easily replaced, and computer issues are rare. The transmission issue is uncommon, but a rebuilt or remanufactured transmission solves that, ultimately making the Jeep run better. 2018 Jeep Compass The 2018 Jeep Compass looks like a smaller version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee of the same year, but it delivers off-road capabilities that rival the Wrangler. It's not known for being a speed demon, yet that's not what this small SUV is all about. The 2018 Compass is popular for its solid off-roading capabilities, including a drivetrain with selectable drive modes to meet the needs of pavement, or not-pavement, as it were. It also comes with a manual transmission on AWD models, giving the driver more control over the gearing through rough conditions. Only one engine was available for the Compass during this model year: a 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic on Sport and Latitude trims. The remaining 4x4s and trim levels combine the engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission. For buyers who want a Compass for its four-wheel drive talents, look for a Trailhawk as it's comparable to the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk in terms of capabilities. The 2018 Compass has a rock-crawling mode with a 20:1 crawl ratio and a Selec-Terrain system that adjusts for snow, sand, mud, and automatic traction. 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is known to last for 200,000 miles before serious issues start to pop up, but they're easily overcome with a minor investment. The worst issue for the 2011 model year is the totally integrated power module (TIPM). If it fails, the Jeep won't run, as the TIPM controls everything in the car. If you're interested in buying a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, have it checked by your mechanic and get a car history report before you buy. The TIPM is a known issue, but many models from this year have run consistently without any problems. Two engines were offered in the 2011 Grand Cherokee, a V-8 and a V-6. Both are known for their reliability and relatively low level of maintenance outside of oil and fluid changes. The luxury interior featured the latest technology for the era, and most of it has held up over a decade later. Buying a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee isn't as big of a risk as it seems, even for its age. 2020 Jeep Wrangler The 2020 Jeep Wrangler is the youngest model on the list, and there are numerous trim levels, packages, and engines available for the model year. Reliability is all but ensured in a model under 5 years old, and the available engines are known for their durability and reliability. Any Jeep Wrangler from this era is one that can last for at least 200,000 miles and more when properly maintained. You also have the benefit of driving a newer Jeep that you can drive for as long as you're willing to maintain it. 2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited TJ The idea of an almost 20-year-old Jeep being dependable may seem strange on the surface. However, there are excellent reasons why the 2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited TJ is sought after. The Unlimited TJ model offered a longer body than the traditional Jeep but not as long as the four-door Wranglers that were soon to follow. It also has a drivetrain that enables it to take on just about every type of terrain without much effort while also being mainly mechanical rather than driven by a computer. What makes the Unlimited TJ a reliable Jeep is the fact it has the 4.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that dates back to the days when AMC owned Jeep. The AMC straight-six was first introduced in 1964 and used through 2006 in the Jeep Wrangler. A long crankshaft is at the heart of the engine, enabling it to deliver incredible torque that gives the Jeep the slow, deep power it needs to conquer any terrain. Another factor in the engine's reliability is the fact that millions were produced, making it easy to find parts and rebuilt engines to get more life out of the Unlimited TJ. Come Check Out Our Inventory of Used Jeeps That's our list of the most reliable Jeeps made in the last 20 years. Did we miss one that you think belongs on the list? 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland vs. Limited

The Jeep Grand Cherokee was one of the first luxury SUVs that could deliver on its promise of rugged reliability. Its arrival on the 4x4 scene changed how people got to remote destinations. The driver and passengers no longer had to deal with feeling every bump and rumble. Now they could relax, enjoy a comfortable interior, and have confidence that their Jeep Grand Cherokee could get them where they were going. The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee delivers on that promise, but its Overland and Limited trim levels mean you have to make a decision on which one to buy. more At The Jeep Store, we understand the dilemma posed by picking between one 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim level over another. That's why we're taking a look at the Overland and Limited trim packages to help you make an informed decision on which one you should buy from our dealership. Read on to learn more about the differences between the two. Pricing Both trims are at the lower end of the price range, which makes them affordable for buyers who want a little extra in terms of creature comforts. The Limited has an MSRP of $46,440, and the Overland is $56,035. Exterior Differences There aren’t many visual differences between the two trim levels, as the Overland is built off the Limited. That is, you'll find that the exterior details of the Overland are similar to that of the Limited. Both trim levels have the same color options, but a two-tone paint option is available on the Overland only. The Limited comes with 18-inch aluminum rims, while the Overland gets an upgrade to 20-inch machined-face aluminum rims. Interior Features The Limited acts as a base model for the Overland in terms of interior features and technologies. You'll find that both trim levels offer details that you would expect at their respective price levels, but the Overland gets upgraded versions of the same features. Some features, such as a power sunroof, are not available on the Limited but are available on the Overland. Interior Features of the Limited The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited comes standard with features that include a 10.25-inch TFT color display, An-Teak/satin chrome interior accents, heated steering wheel, rear cargo-area 12V power outlet, a universal garage-door opener, security alarm, premium six-speaker sound system, and six-passenger seating. It comes standard with Capri leather seats, heated first- and second-row bucket seats, third-row bench seats, and manual fold seatbacks. The driver gets a driver-seat memory to save the seat settings. Conveniences include power front windows with one-touch up/down, speed-sensitive power locks, and a rear-view day/night mirror. Bluetooth with integrated voice command comes as standard. The third-row seats have access to charge-only USB ports. Interior Features of the Overland The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland features Nappa leather seats as a standard material finish. The driver's seat has an eight-way power adjustment, four-way adjustable front headrests, and a memory button. Both front- and second-row seats are heated, and the front seats feature ventilation. The rear seats feature a bucket style with a manual easy-entry slide. The third row also has 50/50 split backs and power fold-down seats. The front seats have access to two USB plus auxiliary ports and integrated center-stack HD radio. Second-row dual charge-only USB ports come standard, as does an 8.4-inch touch screen display with an infotainment system. The infotainment system features Bluetooth connectivity with integrated voice command, and audio controls are mounted on the steering wheel. The infotainment system in both models comes with Uconnect® 5 Navigation with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Powertrain and Suspension Both trim packages come with the same engine as standard in the 4x2 configuration. The standard engine for both is the 3.6L Pentastar™ V-6. Upgrading to the 4x4 Overland comes with the option to include the 5.7L HEMI™ V-8. Both come with the eight-speed automatic 850Re transmission as standard on either engine. The Pentastar™ V-6 features fuel-saving technology known as engine start-stop. The engine turns off when the car is at a complete stop, then turns on again when the accelerator is pressed. It also has variable-valve timing (VVT) that adjusts power generation according to the driver’s demand. This delivers fuel economy and power depending on what's needed at the moment. The 5.7-liter V-8 also has VVT but uses cylinder deactivation to save on fuel. It turns off four of the eight cylinders and closes the valves when cruising and when acceleration is limited. The cylinders are turned back on immediately when the driver presses the accelerator. This technology can improve gas mileage by up to 20 percent. The V-6 can tow up to 6,200 pounds, and the V-8 maxes out at 7,200 pounds. The 4x4 version of the Limited comes with the venerable and reliable Quadra-Trac I system, and the Overland gets the Quadra-Trac II 4x4 system as an upgrade. The air suspension comes with electronic semi-active dampening and gives the Overland 11.3-inches of ground clearance and 24-inches of water-fording clearance. The 2022 Grand Cherokee 4x4 featured a system known as front-axle disconnect, which carries over to the 2023 version. When the Grand Cherokee senses that the road conditions don't require all-wheel drive, it automatically puts the vehicle into two-wheel drive. This improves fuel economy and reduces drag. The all-wheel drive re-engages automatically if road conditions worsen. 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Overview

If you want a car that can handle everything from towing to your daily commute, consider getting the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The 4xe is a powerful machine designed for both off-roading and quick trips. This hybrid brings the best of both worlds by offering alternative uses between gas and electric that can help you save money while you drive. With multiple trim levels that offer different accessories, features, and capabilities, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe has options that work for everyone. more Besides its power and robust set of capabilities through other trims, the Wrangler has both a high clearance and low emissions. With its hybrid engine, you'll end up paying less for gas and being a positive impact on your environment, all while not compromising on versatility and maneuverability both on and off the road. In the paragraphs below, we'll explain the various features and trims of the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and why you might get one soon. 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Price Depending on your trim level, the manufacturer's suggested retail price for Jeep Wrangler can total in at different prices. For example, the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Unlimited Sahara is $58,230. The 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Unlimited Rubicon is $65,205. Factors of different trims change the price, such as interior decoration, technological features, external details, and engine capabilities. If you prefer the more off-road capable Rubicon trim, that model price starts at $56,230. If you add more options to this vehicle, you might bring that price to $63,000. Other things with your vehicle can affect the price, such as state incentives or any tax credits. For example, the maximum federal tax credit is $7,500. Because the Jeep Wrangler 4xe is a hybrid model across all trims, the price may be more expensive when compared to other more traditional models. 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe MPG Electric motors help improve both the thrust and the mileage of the Jeep Wrangler. It can take steep uphill slopes, uneven terrain, and even both at the same time. The 4xe's plug-in electric system combined with the horsepower of the vehicle gives it over 400 pound-feet of torque, putting it on par with V-8 engines of its category. With little strain on the vehicle, the Wrangler can handle rough roads with little to no difference in mpg. The Wrangler 4xe can cover 22 miles on ofectric power alone. Inside this Wrangler, the electric portion of the engine takes over when the vehicle handles low speeds or low strain areas. When the Wrangler needs to go fast or take on rough terrain, it switches to the gas-powered portion of the engine. On a combined evaluation of both highways and within the city, the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has 20 mpg. 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Towing Capacity A turbo 2.0-liter engine that delivers 60 mpg in under 6 seconds makes it not only a capable Jeep but also a fast one. This Jeep Wrangler 4xe has 470 pound-feet of torque, enough to create 375 horsepower of output. The Wrangler 4xe has an exterior setup great for towing, with a generous suspension brought upon by the usual Wrangler build. The Rubicon edition of the vehicle has a disconnecting anti-roll bar. With the four-wheel drive, horsepower, and torque, the Wrangler 4xe allows for excellent towing with the eight-speed automatic transmission. 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Accessories If you're looking for different accessories to add to your Wrangler experience, consider some of the various trims and what each unique build offers. For instance, the High Altitude version of the Sahara trim adds a blind spot monitoring sensor that can help you stay safe while changing lanes, or alert you if someone is veering into yours. It also comes with rear path detection that helps you keep a steady distance from other vehicles on the road. The Sahara trim also comes with rear parking sensors and a Freedom Top sunroof for letting a little more light in. Looking for more safety features? Consider the Rubicon. It has forward collision warning sensors that can help you stop when something gets too close to your front bumper. It also has adaptive cruise control, for long drives on the highway. The Rubicon offers highly sophisticated hardware for the four-wheel-drive system, including differentials that lock and a disconnecting anti-roll bar. 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Interior Features The interior of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe depends on the trim you choose. As one of the more powerful and fuel-efficient variants of the Jeep, this edition in 2022 comes with impressive interior features to choose from as well. The cabin features five seats with generous space in the back. The front seats are close to bucket-type seats. Because the Jeep can turn into an open vehicle, you can wash the inside just as well as the outside. Both front seats sit high so that everything underneath can scrub clean of mud or dirt from off-roading. 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Colors The 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe comes in an assorted amount of different colors for customers to choose from. These colors are distinct from the standard Jeep Wrangler. While the original Wrangler has a multitude of bright and earthy colors, the new 4xe Jeep subscribes to softer, more metallic, and bolder colors. The colors you can find available for the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe are: White Clear Coat, Bright White Clear Coat, Gecko Peal Coat, Bullet Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Granite Crystal Metallic Clear Coat, and Black Clear Coat. Considering joining the Jeep family this year? We don't blame you. With new innovations in electric cars and hybrid technology, we're just as excited as you to be part of lasting change and work toward a better environment. 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Overview

Once just a trim level of the Grand Cherokee, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is now its own model. This hybrid-enhanced version of Jeep's full-size SUV has incredible range, tons of active safety technology, and the capability you'd expect from Jeep. Here's a full Sea View Auto Corp overview of the 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe. more Trims Comparing Grand Cherokee models for the 2022 4xe version, the five choices in order of price are the Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve. The Limited, which is a mid-range trim on the non-hybrid Grand Cherokee, is the base trim for the 4xe, establishing it as a more luxurious SUV. The Trailhawk is an off-roading-oriented trim level, while the Overland cranks up the luxury with a hands-free power liftgate, dual-pane sunroof, and 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. The Summit goes further, adding a black painted roof, more cabin luxuries, and many advanced driving features, such as parallel and perpendicular park assist, a 360-degree camera, traffic sign recognition, and active driving assist. Finally, the Summit Reserve adds Palermo leather seats, 21-inch polished aluminum wheels, and a few other interior bonuses like an integrated front passenger display. Price Over time, Jeep has made all versions of the Grand Cherokee more advanced and closer to the luxury end of the market. The 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe Limited starts at $58,095. The Trailhawk starts at $62,880, and the Overland goes further with the luxury features, starting at $66,155. From there, we have the Summit, starting at $69,820. Finally, the Summit Reserve is the ultimate package and starts at $74,695. All told, these packages are solid deals for what they offer, and the Limited will serve the average Ocean Township family's various needs. One thing is for sure: The Grand Cherokee's total of 440 miles on a full tank and battery charge means you will save money the longer you own it. The 4xe is also eligible for a $7,500 tax credit, making it even easier to save with Sea View Auto Corp. Gas mileage The 4xe's hybrid powertrain gets up to 57 combined city/highway MPGe, 375 horsepower, and 470 lb-ft of torque. You can drive the 4xe for up to 24 miles of all-electric range and swap between three driving modes at any time. Electric mode disengages the gas engine, eSave does the opposite and recharges the battery, and Hybrid mode uses both for optimal performance. If you end up riding on gasoline only, this sizable family SUV still puts out a strong 23 city mpg and 24 highway mpg during eSave mode. Towing Capacity On every trim level, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe offers a 7,200-pound maximum towing capacity with the Quadra-Trac II 4X4 system. The 4xe has a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio and a 47.4:1 crawl ratio with this setup, making it ideal for rocky terrain. The Trailhawk model might be the best fit for rugged off-road use and towing, as it adds electric-blue tow hooks, a class-exclusive detaching sway bar, and underbody skid plates to protect the undercarriage from sharp or uneven surfaces. The Trailhawk and all higher trim levels get the Quadra-Lift air suspension, which automatically lifts and lowers the vehicle as needed while driving over different surfaces. Interior Features All Grand Cherokee 4xe trim levels come included with up-market features for a convenient and opulent cabin. Move up to the Overland model to get nappa leather heated and ventilated front seats, plus heated second-row seats and ambient lighting. The Summit gets four-zone automatic climate control and 16-way adjustable massage and memory front seats on top of the prior trim levels' features. The Grand Cherokee 4xe comes standard with the Uconnect 5 infotainment system, centered around an 8.4-inch touch screen that grows to 10.1 inches on higher grades. There's also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on board and a quality Alpine nine-speaker audio system on the Overland or higher. The one exception is the top-tier Summit Reserve, which has a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system and adds ventilated second-row seats. Colors No one could deny that the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe looks like a quality vehicle. Jeep has chosen a classic yet energetically modern take on a premium SUV, great in any of the available colors. The chrome window surround floats from the front of the D-pillar rather than the back, emphasizing the rear glass's unique shape. A sleek black bar joins the tail lamps at the back, contributing to the sporty look. The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe has a broad range of colors depending on the trim level. You'll find both monotone and two-tone paint jobs, a few of them as a free choice. Shopping for a 4xe Limited, you'll see the following monotone exterior colors: Bright White Clear-Coat. Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat. Midnight Sky. Silver Zynith. Velvet Red Pearl-Coat. Ember Pearl-Coat. Rocky Mountain Pearl-Coat. The Overland is the same as the Limited, only also with a Hydro Blue Pearl-Coat paint option in monotone. The Trailhawk has one monotone color and five two-tone exterior colors: Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat. Bright White plus Black Clear-Coat. Midnight Sky plus Black Clear-Coat. Hydro Blue Pearl-Coat plus Black Clear-Coat. Baltic Gray Metallic plus Black Clear-Coat. Silver Zynith plus Black Clear-Coat. The Summit's color options are similar, except in place of the last two, you can choose from Ember Pearl plus Black Clear-Coat or Rocky Mountain Pearl-Coat plus Black Clear-Coat. Finally, the Summit Reserve has the Diamond Black one-tone paint job as well as an available black two-tone combination with all the various tones on preceding trims. As per usual, every option is $395 except the free Bright White plus Black two-tone color. Overall, the 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe combines the size and off-road capability of the regular Grand Cherokee with innovative electric hybrid technology.
